Children’s author Catherine Bruton needed a website to publicise her debut novel ‘We Can be Heroes’ and to increase her web-presence. The brief was to develop a website that would attract the attention of Catherine’s target audience, tying the site design to that of the book where possible.
We were fortunate enough to have access to a rich array of artwork that had been used by the publishers in the design of the book, including a manga strip penned by illustrator David Shephard. Combining these graphics with a ‘hand-made’ design style, we were able to produce a site that was visually engaging as well as content-rich and accessible to all ages.
Catherine was keen to promote herself and her writing through blogging, and WordPress’ functionality met this need perfectly. Furthermore, using Custom Post Types and Custom Taxonomies, an atomic level of control is facilitated over site content, enabling easy management without compromising on the quality of the design and code.
